The Speed ride is for those in good shape and want a challenge. This ride is a FAST RIDE. The planned speed is around 16 MPH average for approximately 30+ miles. Please do not sign up for this ride if you don't want to ride that hard for that long. Since this ride is just a fun ride - NOT A STRUCTURED ORGANIZED RIDE -- SAG may not be available. There will be no rest stops. The ride is in the process of being routed and mapped and details hammered out. The ride will NOT start from Easy Street Recumbents. More details to follow as they develop -- check back often.
Shelley Stracener - the pretty young woman on the oh-so-sweet purple Musashi will be the ride leader. This is not a fancy organized ride. Bring your own water and
nourishment. No fancy rest stops. We're looking for a volunteer with a pick up truck to collect those who have either had enough and want to quit, or their bike/trike has had enough and wants to quit -- but no guarantees. I will have a crude map printed out in case you get separated from the pack and need to find your way back. Also, I am hoping some one with the techno brain can get the GPS stuff ready for those with the fancy computers that can tell them where to go. You might make sure your cell phone is charged in case you need to call us to come get you!
The ride is tentatively going to start at 8. Be there early to pick up your ride packet. They are not going to sit around and wait for everyone to show up before they start. They are all rolling out on time. Don't say we didn't warn you.

The Scenic Ride will be in Pflugerville and entail a lot of nice scenery and easy riding. It is an 8.3 mile course. This is pleasure ride -- all fun.
The ride is set to start off about 9:00 a.m. We are in no hurry. Ride along with us, or take off on your own to explore. We don't need to be back to Easy Street for lunch until 1:00.

Starting at 10:00 Sunday morning, we will take off storming downtown Austin for ride to the State Capitol. Should be some fun mayhem with Austin being over run by all those Bents! Not a fast ride (have to deal with downtown streets), but nevertheless a fun one! After the ride, some are planning to ride for a quick lunch before heading home. Sonic is being mentioned, as well as the Pour House. Lunch is NOT included in the registration -- but hey -- we all need to eat, so might as well grab one last meal with friends before the fun ends, right?
It is important that you check which ride you want to do Saturday morning on your registration form. You will be picking up your ride packet AT THE RIDE YOU HAVE CHOSEN.
For those that just can't wait until Saturday to get the fun started, check in will be going on at Easy Street Recumbents on Friday afternoon. Drop in and get your packets and hang out if you want.
We are looking for a place to go Friday night to have some fun. Will keep you posted on what we come up with. This is NOT an "event" activity. Just some 'Bents going to hang out together. Same for Saturday night.
There will be a lunch for the participants of The HOT Saturday after we get through with the morning rides. THERE WILL BE A VOUCHER IN YOUR PACKET FOR YOU TO GET YOUR LUNCH. Don't lose it. Also, additional lunches can be purchased if you need an extra for a family member or friend, or if just one sub, chips, and cookie won't fill you up! Additional lunches are $7 each. There is a space on the registration form to order additional lunches. The extra voucher will be in your ride packet. Extra lunches will NOT be available for purchase the day of the rally.
Plan ahead. Lunch will start being available around noon.
Instead of those irritating paper numbers that you have to pin on you and mess up your jersey with holes, we are going to have lanyards that also hold a cell phone or MP 3 player. WEAR YOUR LANYARD DURING THE RALLY. This lanyard is something you will be able to keep using long after the HOT has come and gone.
Instead of the run of the mill t-shirt you always get at rides, this year we are offering a moisture wicking "helmet hair" cap. This is a top quality, really nice looking cap to wear anytime. Will post a photo of it when I decide exactly how I want it to look.
Saturday afternoon, Mike Librik (Easy Street Owner) will give us a presentation of cycle maintenance, upgrades we might like, and good old bling we don't really NEED but would LOVE. Bryan Ball, head of Bent Rider Online, will also give a presentation.
Saturday night after the presentation by Bryan and Mike, some of will be heading down the street a piece to Threadgill's for some killer cooking. The floor is open on anything fun or interesting to do Saturday night if y'all want to get into something. Throw it at us and we'll see if we can hustle up some fun!
